One More Blog Before I Go

Sunday is over. I'm getting on a plane tomorrow and heading to Prague. I won't be able to blog for a few weeks. I am currently winning all three of my leagues.

Julio Jones. Oh Julio! I was raging last week and it was as if the fantasy gods heard me. 300 (!) yards passing. One touchdown, and 12 receptions. That is 48 points in my league. Mike even texted me about it. I don't think I've had anyone score that many points before. On top of that, Michael Crabtree caught three touchdowns. I have him in two leagues. The only sad part about those touchdowns are is that they came on my beloved Ravens. They lost at home against the freaking Raiders. I know they are good but it is still embarrassing.

Lastly what is going on with DeAndre Hopkins? He isn't doing anything. That is twice now. He is just a no show.

Win Some Lose Some

I've taken a few days off from writing about fantasy football. I thought about doing an article Saturday. I'd been pouring over statistics, match ups, and injury reports until I couldn't do it anymore. I felt good about my line ups. It was the quiet before the storm. I didn't think I needed to write anything. I just wanted to have everything play out.

For the most part, things went well. I won two of three leagues. I finally won in the big money league (YES). I was getting worried. I won by a decent amount. I was feeling pretty good about things going in to Monday as I was running Drew Brees already ahead in points. My opponent had Tevin Coleman and Brandin Cooks. Coleman scored 28.4 points. That is ridiculous. I'm glad Cooks didn't show up.

I won my work league easily beating the resident trash talker, Sonny, by like 44 points. I am now 3-0 in that league. I'm tied for the most points scored out of all 8 teams.

In the last league I took a hard loss to a guy who has an atrocious team. He was 0-2 and I'm sure this is the one week his team is going to blow up. He had Emmanuel Sanders (2 TDs) and Marvin Jones (2 TDS) together they scored 70 of his points. Last night I was running Brees, Julio freaking Jones (against the Saints!) and Jacob Tamme. Someone was going to have a big night, right? I was playing against Devonta and Cooks. Well someone did have a big night, but it wasn't Julio. Why did that guy even show up for the game? Devonta had a great game. 31 points in that league. I got a total of 7 points between Tamme and my first pick Julio Jones. I almost want to unload the guy I am so disappointed. I lost by 33 points after leading all of Sunday. Unbelievable.

Some interesting facts of that league. It is a single division 10 team league. I am in 5th place with a record of 1-2. I have the second highest points scored out of all 10 teams. I have the second most points scored against me as well. Crazy how that works.

Unexpected Surprises

Last time I wrote about Fantasy I was stressing about all the injuries. Who is going to show up next? Should I trade for someone? I put in a single offer and it was declined. I picked up the Miami RB Kenyan Drake and left him on my bench. I went with LeGarrette Blount and Carlos Hyde.

Blount crushed it scoring two TDs and like a hundred yards. That is a great start for my team and I have a feeling Hyde is going to do well. Maybe I can finally pull off a win.

On other things DeAndre Hopkins was a little weak. Osweiler was absolutely atrocious last night and got a hard dose of reality. The Patriots will beat you with a third string QB. The Texans couldn't hold on to the ball for the life of them. Two turnovers on kickoffs just shows the Patriots were in their heads. The defense scored like 15 points for my brother's the team. Ridiculous.

Lastly I have found that this year I seem to be running a guy in one league only to be facing him in another. I hope this doesn't last. It is hard to root for people while this crap is happening.

Injuries Abound

Lots of injuries this week, as I previously mentioned. After a lengthy conversation with my bro I set up my waiver targets. I didn't expect to get both, but I did.

Running back wise, I picked up the backup Miami RB, Kenyan Drake. Everyone knows Miami doesn't like to use it's running backs but there seemed to be way more upside with him then Reshad Jennings. Who wants Jennings? Every time I pick him up I lose. Maybe Kenyan is a force that Miami has been waiting to unleash, and I just got the steal of a lifetime.

I'm running Carlos Hyde and LeGarrette Blount. You know what? I like those guys and I probably won't even take them out. I also got Quincy Enunwa who has been amazing the past few weeks. Trade bait perhaps?

I'm a little short on TEs though as Ertz is still out and my man Virgil Green might be limited. I don't know who I'd want to drop to get a different TE. Any suggestions?

In my other league I got Stefan Diggs off waivers. I was bragging about it to Sonny who I'm playing this week. The only downside to this is that it is a Standard league and those catches won't count. In the defensive league I play in I got Jacob Tamme off of waivers who is the #2 scoring TE in the league. The problem with that is I already have Julio Jones. Maybe someone else can use him better then me. I was pretty disappointed Garoppolo was injured as he was shaping up to be a great 2nd QB.

WEEK 2 DISASTERS AND VICTORIES

I'm in three leagues this year. Two are money leagues, one isn't. The one that isn't is the original league that got me started playing fantasy football. My friend Matt invited me in several years ago. It is a PPR league that drafts defensive players as well. You can win games by having a defensive guys that tackle a lot, so the draft is tricky.

In that league I won my first week -- barely -- because Kirk Cousins threw an interception in the end zone at the end of the game. This week I was the number three scoring team in the league, but I was playing the number one scoring team of the week and I lost by 3 points. The second highest scoring had one more point then me. If I had played anyone else I would have won. My record in that league is now 1-1. I had to play Zack Miller as my TE because Ertz is injured. I haven't lost this early in years in this league so I'm a little nervous. We shall see how it goes.

In the biggest money league, the one my brother convinced me to join, I am now 0-2. Ouch. It is a half point PPR. My running backs were both injured in the first quarter (Doug Martin and JStew). They got me a grand total of 4.9 points. I had Tyler Lockett playing as well and even though he got injured early he still came back out and got just about 100 yards. My kicker, that worthless mutt Steve Hauschka, got me 3 points. I was playing my brother who had David Johnson and DeMarco playing. Together they got him a total of 33.8 points. I am last place in my division. I've also had the most points scored against me then any other team in the league. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do. I fear $50 is flying out of the window.

The last league I'm in is one that I am in with the guys and girl I work with. It is only an 8 person league. It is standard, so no PPR. In that league I am now 2-0. I had the good fortune of going up against Antonio Brown in his rare off-week. I think I have a really good team. I've got Todd Gurley, Lamar Miller, Brandon Marshall, Mike Evans, Jordan Reed, CJ Anderson, and my boy Justin Tucker. I wish it was PPR though because I know I would just kill it. Even in the worst weeks I pulled off at least one victory.

First Draft Done

I did my draft for my fantasy league tonight. The spots were randomly generated an hour before the draft and I got 6th pick. Not the best spot but I could work with it.

I picked Julio Jones first. It was a toss up between him and Todd Gurley. I thought he went a little late due to the fact some clown picked Dez Bryant first, and felt pretty good about it. The first pick Dez made me laugh. I realized I'd be able to still sneak a few good RBs.

I picked Lamar Miller the next round and then McCoy. I picked Carlos Hyde next, there were a ton of value receivers later in the draft. I hD to pick between Jarvis Landry and Eric Decker. I took Landry and almost got Decker on the way back. I took Brees instead.

After Brees I took Zack Ertz then Tyler Lockett.
The next picks are all defenseman so I won't bore you with that. My kicker is Tucker, of course. I got Packers D.

I feel pretty good about this team. I am going to have trouble deciding who to play each week as I have a lot of depth.
